Website Design and Maintenance
A fast, credible website that keeps working after the day it launches.
The two ways a small business website fails
The first is not having one. A customer who found you on Google or through a friend goes looking for something that confirms you are real — and finds nothing, or a Facebook page last updated two years ago. The job goes to someone who looked more established.
The second is more common and less obvious: having one that was built once and then abandoned. It loads slowly on a phone, the contact form stopped delivering to an inbox nobody checks, the certificate expired and the browser now warns people away. It is doing active damage, and because the owner rarely visits their own site, nobody notices.
What is included
- Built and launched for youA site written from a conversation about your business, not a template you have to fill in yourself. There is no upfront build cost on the Assurance Plan.
- Fast on a real phone, on a real networkEngineered to load in under two seconds on Vodacom, MTN and Telkom — including on weak signal, which is where most of your customers actually are.
- Pages for the areas you serveDedicated pages for the suburbs and towns you work in, so a search that includes a place name has something specific to match.
- One-tap WhatsApp buttonVisitors start a WhatsApp conversation with you from their phone in a single tap, with the message pre-filled so you get context, not just 'hi'.
- Your live Google reviews on the pageYour real Google rating, recent reviews and map directions shown on your own site, so the trust you have built on Google is working on both.
- POPIA-ready and securedA plain-English privacy policy, SSL encryption, and the security updates that keep the site from becoming a liability.
- Hosting, domain and backups handledHosting, domain renewals, SSL certificates and weekly backups are ours to manage. You never log into a server.
Mobile-first is not a style choice here
Almost everyone who finds a local South African business online does it on a phone, often on mobile data, often on a signal that is not great. A site designed on a desktop and shrunk down afterwards behaves badly in exactly those conditions — and the visitor does not tell you it was slow, they just leave.
So the phone is where these sites are designed to work first. That shapes real decisions: how much sits above the fold, how heavy the images are allowed to be, and putting a WhatsApp button within thumb reach instead of a contact form nobody fills in on a phone.
The maintenance is the part that is usually missing
Most website quotes end at launch. What follows is a site that slowly stops working: plugins go out of date, the certificate lapses, a form breaks silently, the backup that was set up once was never tested.
That ongoing part is included here rather than sold separately, because a site nobody maintains is the second failure described above, and we would rather not build one. Weekly backups, security and performance monitoring, and updates are covered by the same monthly fee as the build.
Your website and your Google profile are one job
These are usually bought from different people, which is how the address on the website ends up disagreeing with the address on the Business Profile. Google reads that disagreement as uncertainty about whether they are even the same business.
Managing both together is the simplest way to keep them consistent — and it means your reviews, your photographs and your service list are the same on both, without you coordinating anyone.
Common questions
- Do I own the website?
- The content is yours — your words, your photographs, your domain. While you are on the plan we build, host and maintain the site for you. If you leave, your domain and content go with you.
- Why is there no upfront build cost?
- Because a few thousand rand upfront is exactly what stops a small business getting online, and the build is only half the value anyway. The Assurance Plan covers the build and the ongoing maintenance in one monthly fee. There is a separate once-off build option if you would rather pay for the site outright.
- What if I already have a website?
- Then the question is whether it is worth keeping. Sometimes it is and we maintain and improve what you have. Often the honest answer is that rebuilding is faster and cheaper than fixing. We will tell you which, including when the answer means less work for us.
- How long does it take to launch?
- The build starts after a kickoff conversation about your business, your services and the areas you cover. The bottleneck is usually getting your content and photographs together, not the building.
- Can I make changes myself?
- You do not have to, and most owners would rather not. Send us the change and we make it. That is what the maintenance part of the plan is for.
